Note: I am a junior high school student from China, and my English proficiency is limited. This issue was written with the assistance of DeepSeek. I have carefully reviewed the content to ensure it accurately represents my thoughts and requests. Thank you for your understanding. Description What kind of issue is this? This is a feature request to significantly improve the package download experience for users in regions with poor network connectivity to registry.platformio.org (especially users in Mainland China). The Critical Need for a China-Accessible Mirror For developers in Mainland China, accessing registry.platformio.org is often extremely slow, unstable, or even completely blocked. The platform's core packages, toolchains, and SDKs (which can be 100 to 500 MB) can take hours to download or fail repeatedly, making the development process nearly impossible. This is not a minor inconvenience—it is a critical barrier that prevents many developers from using PlatformIO at all.

Environment: PlatformIO Core, Windows, ESP32-C3 target (Xtensa/RISC-V toolchain), but the mechanism is toolchain-agnostic. What happened: Built successfully on branch A, which added a function call in foo.cpp to a helper defined in bar.cpp. Checked out branch B (an ancestor without that helper) and ran pio run again. Link failed: undefined reference to `helper()' git grep helper at HEAD returns nothing — the symbol doesn't exist anywhere in the checked-out tree. foo.cpp.o's mtime matched foo.cpp's mtime exactly, both stale relative to the actual checkout time, meaning SCons's signature decider judged foo.cpp.o "unchanged" and skipped recompiling it, while bar.cpp.o did rebuild correctly (fresh, correctly missing the definition) — producing a link-time mismatch between two objects from two different source states. Workaround: rm .pio/build/<env>/.sconsign311.dblite && pio run -e <env> forces a full re-derivation and fixes it. Ask: Given SCons' own tracker has related reports of the

Hello, I am on Debian. My wifi SSID password has a “(“ character. Password included thanks to a build flag. The only way I can compile is using : build_flags = -D’SSID = ‘${sysenv.WIFI_SSID} -D’PASSWD = ‘${sysenv.WIFI_PASSWD} with export WIFI_PASSWD=’"MYPASS(WORD"’ (see the way I use the ’ character), instead of : build_flags = -DSSID=${sysenv.WIFI_SSID} -DPASSWD=${sysenv.WIFI_PASSWD} which gives an error : “Building in release mode Compiling .pio/build/esp32-s3-devkitc-1/src/main.c.o sh: 1: Syntax error: “(” unexpected Generating LD script .pio/build/esp32-s3-devkitc-1/esp-idf/esp_system/ld/memory.ld.in *** [.pio/build/esp32-s3-devkitc-1/src/main.c.o] Error 2” Even escaping the character ( does not work, according to https://docs.platformio.org/en/latest/projectconf/interpolation.html Ex : export WIFI_PASSWD='\"MYPASS\(WORD\"'

Description: When using lib_ldf_mode = off, PlatformIO fails to find some dependencies (specifically symlinked libraries) under Windows. To get it to compile, it frequently requires manually deleting the .pio/libdeps folder. However, using the exact same configuration and project under WSL compiles perfectly without needing to clear the cache. (Note: This was originally opened by mistake in platform-espressif32 as issue #1690). Steps to Reproduce: Create a project on Windows utilizing symlinked local libraries in lib_deps. Set lib_ldf_mode = off in platformio.ini. Build the project. Expected Behavior: The LDF should resolve the symlinked libraries and compile the project successfully, just as it does under WSL. Actual Behavior: Under Windows, the compilation sometimes fails because the symlinked libraries are not found by the compiler. Windows Output (Fails): LDF: Library Dependency Finder -> https://bit.ly/configure-pio-ldf LDF Modes: Finder ~ off, Compatibility ~ soft Found 68 comp
