Recently we upgraded our Go dependency from Go 1.24 to 1.25 but it's been a while since we did a thorough review of the code to make sure we're using the latest language features and syntax. For example, we still use interface{} instead of any in some places and we can take avantage of language features like WaitGroup.Go() wrappers insead of explictily calling Add()/Done(). Now that coding agents have gotten more powerful, we should use AI to refactor the code to bring it in-line with go1.25 standards so that new contributors can work with clean, modern code. Doing everything in one-shot with AI would probably make the changes difficult to review so I think we need a human at the helm to guide the AI and structure the contribution so that the changes are easier to understand. The relevant code is in the modules/ directory. After this project is complete we should have code that uses recommended go1.25 language features and removes deprecated ones.
