Toggling vsync in settings doesn't actually change the underlying behavior, resulting in worse than ideal performance. Frame presentation remains synchronized to the monitor refresh rate, and capturing process samples with Activity Monitor shows most frame time blocked in CGLFlushDrawable(). Expected Behavior VSync should only be on when the setting is enabled. Reproduction Steps Run the game in Windowed mode on MacOS Ensure framerate cap is higher than monitor refresh rate Toggle VSync on and off through any way you prefer Notice in all cases that the FPS never exceeds the monitor refresh rate both in the menu and in game Anything else? So I actually went to compile a build with the fix

Is there an existing issue for this? I have searched the existing issues Version Info Latest available release 0.75.0 What operating system are you seeing the problem on? Linux (any distro) Mint 22.3 Bug Behavior For my fellow Mint/Ubuntu users: game not starting and getting the following error? ./Etterna: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.3: version `OPENSSL_3.2.0' not found (required by ./Etterna) Reproduction Steps Running the application through GUI produces no visible errors and exits silently. You would have to run the application through command line to discover this missing library. After manually including the library, there are no other missing libraries that cause the game to not work. I doubt this is a problem with some of the more current versions of Ubuntu. I'm on Mint 22.3 and libssl only goes up to 3.0.13. Workaround I don't really know (or I guess remember) how I would go about backversioning that dependency link in source and building, so my current workaround is to

Possibly a cause for stutters and slowdowns on Linux. This would imply altering the process' nice value, but as far as I remember, increasing a process' priority requires root permissions. There are workarounds though. Logs show: [WARN]: Core::Platform::boostPriority not implemented [WARN]: Core::Platform::unboostPriority not implemented

Is there an existing issue for this? I have searched the existing issues Contact Details discord: amanda.mp4 Version Info Latest available release What operating system are you seeing the problem on? Linux (any distro) Bug Behavior There's an unbearable crackling/static audio bug that happens seemingly at random, but very often (see attachment). It happens both while playing, and previewing a chart. The bug has been observed on Debian 12 and 13 (both stable) in Linux kernel version 6.12.74 and earlier down to 6.12.10. The issue happens in both windowed and full screen mode. This issue only happens in Etterna, not on any other game, app, or website. I have tried to adjust system-wide sample frequencies and audio buffer sizes to no avail. Expected Behavior The audio should play without crackling Reproduction Steps This cannot be reliably reproduced on just any system, it seems to only happen on certain Linux builds Anything else? Is there an existing issue for the feature? I have searched the existing feature requests Describe the Feature Add newer DirectX backend support adjacent to the currently used DirectX 9, preferably DirectX 11. How Does The Feature Add To The Game? Currently, somehow, with newer but low-end graphic card, OpenGL seems to be faster than the supposedly native API, DirectX. Newer version, especially 11, should be able to make it equal if not more performant than OpenGL. Additional Context Specifically DirectX 11 because it's widely supported by almost anything, and is more than enough for this type of game, rather than DirectX 12 because of limited hardware support and is a bit overkill.
