Brief Since bindgen complicates cross-compilation, the freebsd platform in iceoryx2-pal-posix shall be ported to the libc crate. Ideally, after the port to the libc crate, the iceoryx2-pal-posix crate can be cross-compiled on Linux for FreeBSD with the following commands rustup target add x86_64-unknown-freebsd cargo build -p iceoryx2-pal-posix --target x86_64-unknown-freebsd Once that works, the iceoryx2 crate itself should also cross-compile cargo build -p iceoryx2 --target x86_64-unknown-freebsd

Brief With Rust 1.98, clippy complained about suspicious runtime symbol definitions in the bindgen generated code for macOS on aarch64. As a quick fix, the suspicious_runtime_symbol_definitions warning is suppressed but this is not a long term solution. Since bindgen also complicates cross-compilation, the macos platform in iceoryx2-pal-posix shall be ported to the libc crate. Ideally, after the port to the libc crate, the iceoryx2-pal-posix crate can be cross-compiled on Linux for macOS with the following commands rustup target add x86_64-apple-darwin cargo build -p iceoryx2-pal-posix --target x86_64-apple-darwin Once that works, the iceoryx2 crate itself should also cross-compile cargo build -p iceoryx2 --target x86_64-apple-darwin Task remove #![allow(suspicious_runtime_symbol_definitions)] from iceoryx2-pal/posix/src/lib.rs for macOS
